The Young Science Explorers programme focuses on sparking our students’ curiosity for Science while building their fundamental skills of scientific inquiry. Research in childhood education has shown that “early exposure to scientific phenomena leads to better understanding of scientific concepts studied later in a formal way. “ (Journal of Science Education and Technology, 2005). Our programme utilises a wide variety of interactive in-class activities. Students will not only enjoy the process of learning new scientific concepts and applications, but also develop a strong foundation that will give them an edge in Primary 3.
Students will be introduced to the themes of Diversity, Systems, Cycles, Interactions and Energy. Having this awareness will develop their ability to make connections between what they observe around them and the various themes in Science. At the same time, our carefully designed curriculum will help our students develop basic scientific process skills such as classifying, comparing and analysing data in the form of tables and graphs. They will also learn how to apply their newly acquired knowledge in answering questions using appropriate answering techniques.
