Excellence in English (Secondary)

This programme aims to enhance students’ mastery of the English language, while providing exposure to the critical analysis skills needed to tackle the components of the secondary English syllabus. Students’ foundational linguistic ability continue to be refined. Moreover, students are given more regular opportunities to apply the writing, reading, listening, speaking and viewing skills learnt.

With a strong emphasis on current affairs, real world issues are intricately woven into our curriculum to enhance students’ global mindsets. At the end of the 4 years, students are knowledgeable, skillfull and confident in approaching any issues and topics that they may face.

TESTIMONIAL

"I was in the Excellence in English programme since Secondary 2. My teacher made lessons very interesting and also constantly encouraged us to keep ourselves updated with the current affairs. Before the start of each lesson, my teacher would ask us to share articles that we have read during the week and discuss the issues with us. This has greatly helped me to build up content to write for essays and for “Spoken Interaction” during oral examinations. In addition, she would also give us tips to improve our writing and teach us very useful strategies to tackle questions in Paper 2."
