The EIE STAR is a specially curated programme for students in the Integrated Programme (IP). It is an intensive and rigorous 6-year enrichment programme culminating in the GCE ‘A’ Level General Paper examination.

During this course, students are exposed to a variety of different societal genres that broaden their perspectives on both global and local issues. They are also equipped with the relevant analytical and critical thinking skills that enable them to analyse, assess, and express their opinions on issues in a clear and concise manner.

Through various in-class activities, students learn to appreciate the diverse viewpoints of their peers and the wider community, and attain a holistic view on current global issues. With this increase in awareness and depth of understanding, students are able to critically assess each issue and elaborate their standpoints through well-articulated arguments, priming themselves to excel in the national examinations.

"I was in the Excellence in English programme since Secondary 2. My teacher made lessons very interesting and also constantly encouraged us to keep ourselves updated with the current affairs. Before the start of each lesson, my teacher would ask us to share articles that we have read during the week and discuss the issues with us. This has greatly helped me to build up content to write for essays and for “Spoken Interaction” during oral examinations. In addition, she would also give us tips to improve our writing and teach us very useful strategies to tackle questions in Paper 2."
