People always say that helping others brings about an inherent joy that cannot be felt or experienced in any other activity. However, me, being a bit of a cynic, never truly believed in that statement. How can helping others bring about any sort of joy when more often than not, the process involves inconveniencing myself? It was something that I have never understood during my primary school days and something that I struggled with up till this particular event in Secondary 3. That event changed my perspective entirely and shook me to my very core; upending everything I thought about helping others and swapping it with a new outlook that will forever change my belief on raising others up.
