Read for Success (RFS)


Read for Success is a structured phonics-based programme which nurtures preschool children to read fluently and independently.


Why teach phonics?

 

  • An effective way of teaching children to learn to read which lays a stable foundation for future success 

  • Facilitates excellent phonemic and phonological awareness. 

  • Enables children to hear, identify, and manipulate letter symbols and sound


Other features of RFS:
 

  • Teaching of high frequency words

  • Mastery of sight words is critical to reading success

  • Recognition of these words enables children to read with greater fluency and confidence

Most children are able to read simple storybooks after 5 months in the programme
